It surely takes a village to make a difference in healthcare. What if we could make that village global and compound our expertise to create reliable evidence for healthcare decisions? That’s what the Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI) community is all about.
I often get asked how much one has to pay to use all great resources from OHDSI, namely the internationally standardized OMOP CDM, hundreds of analytical software tools, and a global network of collaborators. The answer is: it’s FREE.
The true magic of OHDSI, with a doubt, is the spirit of volunteerism and collaboration. It’s a community of researchers, data specialists, clinicians, and industry partners who share the same vision of improving healthcare through large-scale analytics. OHDSI has been recognizing many dozens of volunteers since 2018 with the Titan Awards, and I am honored to be one of the recipients in 2024. Full list of awardees can be found here.
Titans are giants in Greek mythology, and the OHDSI community has always been built by countless giants who allow us to stand on their shoulders.
I was recognized for my contributions for community collaboration, where I have been working with amazing Thai colleagues to promote OHDSI/OMOP in Thailand through workshops and guidance. I was fortunate to take part in the ETL collaboration project of the OHDSI APAC Chapter. I will be sharing experiences and lessons learned on this blog space.
In addition, my team at Siriraj Hospital has been working on establishing the official OHDSI Thailand chapter, and we are excited to bring more Thai healthcare institutions to the OHDSI community. I hope we can contribute more to the APAC and Global OHDSI community in the years to come.
Thank you, OHDSI, for this recognition! 🙏 I am humbled to be part of this community and will continue to contribute to the best of my ability! 💪
